Hemel Riders Podium at 2017 English Slopestyle Champs
On the hottest Saturday of June 2017, some of the most committed youngsters stepped out onto the snow, set to spend the day in a fridge and compete in the English Slopestyle Championships. Between 8am and 6pm on 17th June, freestyle skiers and snowboarders from up and down the UK went head to head at the real snow indoor ski centre in Castleford - All attempting to land the best jump and rail tricks possible to claim a spot on the podium.

And it wasn’t just the snowboard team that brought home medals! Young Freestyle skier Palmer Parish did The Snow Centre’s team proud with his silver medal in the under 12's competition. Plus, siblings, Justin and Ella Taylor-Tipton both picked up medals for The Snow Centre’s Freestyle Ski Team. With Justin landing a silver in the under 21's and overall categories, and Ella picking up a bronze in the under 16’s competition.
The Snow Centre’s Freestyle Team Manager said;
“I'm so pleased with all of our team riders, those that made the podiums, and those that didn’t - We saw some great tricks from all! Both, Stephen Smith and Stephen French had an amazing run, unfortunately they fell on the last feature, but still put up a great fight in the early part of the course.
Bradley Baker also did the team proud in the under 12’s category, by putting-down some awesome moves at his first competition representing The Snow Centre. I’d also like to give a massive shout out to all the Hemel Hempstead skiers and snowboarders who travelled up to the competition and really performed on the snow.
Plus, from what I've heard, The Snow Centre’s skier, Palmer Parish really wowed the judges with his effortless style at such a young age. Well done everyone, another set of great results!” said Kris Amstutz, The Snow Centre's Freestyle Manager.
