Your teenager has probably been enjoying snowsports for a few years, and now has the opportunity to put their skills to use with their GCSE or A-Level Physical Education qualification. All they need to do is get evidence of their performance to meet the assessment criteria.
The Snow Centre has set up EXCLUSIVE Friday evening GCSE & A-Level PE Assessment sessions so the student participating in their GCSE's/A-Levels can get the video footage they need*. Available every Friday 5-7pm during the school term until 22nd of March 2024 - sessions are extremely popular so book early to avoid disappointment! These sessions will return in September 2024.
There's two options available - A 2 Hour fully coached session with one of our instructors, or a simple 1 Hour Slalom Lift Pass that will give you a chance to film your son or daughter on a slalom run.
*These sessions are for students only, parents can film but cannot take part.
Option 1 - GCSE & A-Level PE Instructor Evidence Session
A 2 Hour session to film all elements of the assessment criteria, allowing our instructors the time to give hints and tips and ensure the technique is on point. In this session your instructor will help to gather the evidence required for the Skiing or Snowboarding assessment criteria, including a slalom course from top to bottom of our Main Slope.
Throughout the session, the instructor will film the evidence from points around the slopes to highlight good technique. You should provide the filming equipment (iPhone, Android etc. we do not recommend a GoPro) and will need to edit the footage after the session. Make sure the phone is fully charged and where possible you bring a spare device as batteries can lose charge quickly in cold environments!

- Access to both the Main Slope & Trainer Slope, including a stubbie slalom course*
- Hire of Skis/Snowboard, Boots and Helmet

Please make sure to bring the criteria with you. To get the most out of this session, we highly recommend a warm up before meeting the instructor. This can be arranged for earlier in the afternoon for just £22 per person per hour.
If there are several students from the same school who are working towards the same qualification, the instructor is able to coach and collect evidence for up to 4 students at a time. The students must all be collecting evidence for the same examining board, and all footage will be shot on one piece of filming equipment. It is the students responsibility to share the footage after the session.

*The Slalom will be a minimum of 10 poles (as that fulfils the exam criteria). The slalom poles are shorter training poles called stubbies. Timing of runs will be individual times trials using the counter on the chosen media recording device.
Option 2 - GCSE & A-Level PE Slalom Lift Pass
Perhaps you collected most of the evidence on your last family trip to the mountains, or you took some footage on a recent visit to The Snow Centre. The evidence of skiing or snowboarding a gates or slalom course can be difficult to obtain.
We've arranged a dedicated slalom course on selected dates with space at the bottom of the slope for a parent to film the run and complete the portfolio of snowsports evidence.
The session will include:
- Access to a stubbie slalom course on the Main Slope*
- Hire of Skis/Snowboard, Boots and Helmet
