What skill do you teach?
Alpine skiing
What qualification do you have?
IASI Level 1
What was your first Snowsports experience and where?
Being born in Russia and having lived north of the Arctic Circle, I've started XC skiing, ice skating and sledging while in nursery school, later adding competetive winter orienteering (a combination of map reading and XC skiing). I learned alpine skiing in 2016, indoors. Once I was ready to practise, I tried out the Snow Centre which I thought would be reachable easier from where I live. One of the best decisions I've made, and not only because of the scenic drive!
What’s the best thing about being an instructor at The Snow Centre?
The best is having an experience in an amazing environment, where one can live and breathe the athmosphere of snowsports, meet new friends, have fun, teach people new skills and learn oneself so much every day.
One single tip you would give to anyone taking part in Snowsports…
"Learn it, love it, live it!"
Best Snowsports memory?
Joining the Hemel Ski Race Club. It took me 14 months of regular practice after making my first skiing steps. It has involved a lot of help, advice and guidance from coaches, instructors and better skiers but I got there and made new friends in the process!
Funniest Snowsports memory?
My first slalom race. For a brief moment, standing on the start ramp, I was tempted to say I changed my mind and step down so steep did it look, but thought better of that, shut my eyes and just went downhill through the course. Allegedly, I was 'racing' in a snowplough!
