Kids Snowboard Lessons

The Snow Centre offers a range of snowsports activities for juniors to enjoy, whether you're preparing for a trip to the mountains or you want some snowboarding fun on UK snow. 

We offer group kids’ snowboard lessons for children aged seven and above. For ages three and above, you can book our Private Snowboard Lessons which are designed for individual children or groups.

Select your junior's current ability from the Levels below to find the lesson that’s right for them, or check out our Junior Snowboarder Learning Journey.

Your junior will be joined by others of the same experience or ability as them. If they're a beginner they'll be joined by others who've never set foot on the slopes!

Level 2 - They're side slipping on both heel & toe edge with assistance

If your junior has taken the first step with snowboarding before and they’re now able to side slip on both heel and toe edges, with a little help, then Level 2 is for them.

Level 3 - They're in control on both heel & toe edge

They’re well on their way to learning to snowboard now! Your junior is controlling their board on both edges, next up – turning. Our instructors will help to continue progressing and perfecting skills ensuring they’re having fun every step of the way.

Level 4 - They can steer into and out of the fall line & make basic turns

Your junior is gaining more control and is able to steer their board confidently from the top of our Trainer Slope. Next stop – the Main Slope! Our instructors will aim to progress them to the top of our 160m Main Slope and teach them how to use the button lift.

Level 5 - They're gaining confidence on the main slope

Your junior has used the button lift, and can snowboard from the top of our Main Slope. They are now working on snowboarding on their own from the top of our Main Slope, improving their control with the help and feedback of our instructors.

Level 6 - Advancing to Coaching

Now your juniors are able to link their turns from the top of the Main Slope with confidence, it’s time to advance from structured to lessons to Main Slope skills and development coaching. Multiple sessions can be arranged to ensure that your juniors skills continue to grow while with our top coaches. There’s a wide range of drills, skills and techniques that can be used to get the very best out of your budding skiers! Our coaches will work with 7-16 year olds ensuring each group is put through their paces!

Skills Development Coaching

Your junior can use a button lift and is confident in ascending our 160m Main Slope. Whether they’ve just progressed from Level 6 or have been on the white stuff for years, our coaches will ensure they get the most out of the session.

Your junior may be recommended to take some practice time alone with a Lift Pass to practice what they’ve learnt before taking their next lesson to learn new techniques and skills.

Lessons for those with additional needs

At The Snow Centre we believe in Snowsports FOR ALL and recognise the importance of participation, building self-confidence, exploring new experiences and feeling a sense of achievement. If your junior has any additional needs that you feel may be a barrier to learning a snowsport, please call us and speak to one of the team. We will be able to find the right pathway to help them unlock learning and participation potential.

Terms & Conditions Apply. 3/6 Packs are non-transferrable and must be used by the same person throughout. Lessons are subject to availability so book early to avoid disappointment. Ski Lessons are 4 Years+ and Snowboard Lessons are 7 Years+. Excludes Private Lessons. 
Summer Lesson Packages are available to be used from 15th April and must be used by 31st August 2024.

Have you got your snow essentials?

Snowboarding, boots and helmets are included with your session and we recommend wearing warm, waterproof clothing, thick socks and gloves are mandatory on the slopes. If you don't have your own we offer clothing hire - just £7 for one item or £12 for both a jacket and trousers. Gloves and socks are available to purchase for just £12 for gloves and £6 for socks.

Snow essentials can be added at the time of making your booking or at Reception when you arrive.

Kids’ Snowboard Lessons have a maximum ratio per instructor.

  • 7 – 11-year-olds: Maximum four juniors.
  • 11 – 16-year-olds: Maximum six juniors.
  • Private Lessons are available for between one and six people per instructor.

The word from the slopes

  • “Easy access from M1. Plenty of parking, simple registration, and quick service to collect skis, boots etc. Both lifts serving the main slopes worked faultlessly and although the session was quite busy I felt the slopes were quite free of other skiers & classes. I particularly liked the snow conditions and at the end enjoyed the amazing cafè overlooking the slopes. Reasonably priced menu. All told an excellent start to our skiing this year.”
