The Snow Centre offers a range of snowsports activities to enjoy, whether you're getting your child ready for a trip to the mountains or you want to keep their ski legs going closer to home. You can be sure they'll learn to ski with confidence at The Snow Centre thanks to our excellent kids' ski lessons.

Here are the types of ski lessons for kids we offer at The Snow Centre:

Group Ski Lessons available for 4 years+*.
Private Lessons available for 3 years+, designed for individuals or groups of Family & Friends.

In Group Lessons, your junior will be joined by others of the same experience or ability as them. If they're a beginner, they'll be joined by others who've never set foot on the slopes!

Junior School Holiday Camps, 4-16 year olds, Take the hassle out of arranging your kids ski lessons as our Ski School Holiday Camps are back during School Holidays! Our Beginner Holiday Camps are for complete beginners. We will introduce Juniors to the equipment, the unique snowy environment, how to balance on skis and an end goal of completing a snow plough (pizza shape) giving them their first real skiing experience. This is aimed at juniors who have never skied before.

Level 2 - They can control a snowplough in a straight line

If your junior has taken their first step with skiing before and are now able to control a snowplough in a straight line, then Level 2 is for them.

Level 3 - They can make basic snowplough turns

Level 4 - They can control speed and link snowplough turns

Your junior is gaining more control and is able to turn confidently from the top of our Trainer Slope. Next stop – the Main Slope! Our instructors will aim to progress them to the top of our 160m Main Slope and teach them how to use the button lift.

Level 5 - They're gaining confidence on the main slope

Your junior has used the button lift, and can ski from the top of the Main Slope. They are now working on skiing on their own from the top of our Main Slope, improving their control with the help and feedback of our instructors.

Level 6 - Advancing to coaching

Now your junior is able to link their turns from the top of the Main Slope with confidence, it’s time to advance from structured lessons to Main Slope skills and development coaching. Multiple sessions can be arranged to ensure that your juniors skills continue to grow while with our top coaches. There’s a wide range of drills, skills and techniques that can be used to get the very best out of your budding skiers! Our coaches will work with 4-6 and 7-16 year old groups ensuring they are put through their paces!

Skills Development Coaching

Your junior can use a button lift and is confident in ascending our 160m Main Slope. Whether they’ve just progressed from Level 6 or have been on the white stuff for years, our coaches will ensure they get the most out of the session.

Your junior may be recommended to take some practice time alone with a Lift Pass to practice what they’ve learnt before taking their next lesson to learn new techniques and skills.

Lessons for those with additional needs

At The Snow Centre we believe in Snowsports FOR ALL and recognise the importance of participation, building self-confidence, exploring new experiences and feeling a sense of achievement. If your junior has any additional needs that you feel may be a barrier to learning a snowsport, please call us and speak to one of the team. We will be able to find the right pathway to help them unlock learning and participation potential.

Juniors aged 4 – 16 Lesson Packs can be used for Junior Group Lessons from Level 1 and above PLUS our summer packs can be used on Junior Holiday Camps too, so they are perfect to keep the kids entertained, whether they're beginner, been a couple of times before or want to try a new Snowsport.

Terms & Conditions Apply. 3/6 Packs are non-transferrable and must be used by the same person throughout. Lessons are subject to availability so book early to avoid disappointment. Ski Lessons are 4 Years+ and Snowboard Lessons are 7 Years+. Excludes Private Lessons.
Summer Lesson Packages are available to be used from 15th April and must be used by 31st August 2024.

Have you got your snow essentials?

Skis, boots and helmets are included with your session and we recommend wearing warm, waterproof clothing, thick socks and gloves are mandatory on the slopes. If you don't have your own we offer clothing hire - just £7 for one item or £12 for both a jacket and trousers. Gloves and socks are available to purchase for just £12 for gloves and £6 for socks.

Snow essentials can be added at the time of making your booking or at Reception when you arrive.

Junior Group Ski Lessons will have a maximum ratio per instructor. 4 and 5-6-year-olds lessons will have a maximum of five participants per instructor, and 7-10 and 11-16-year-olds’ lessons will have a maximum of six participants per instructor.

“Easy access from M1. Plenty of parking, simple registration, and quick service to collect skis, boots etc. Both lifts serving the main slopes worked faultlessly and although the session was quite busy I felt the slopes were quite free of other skiers & classes. I particularly liked the snow conditions and at the end enjoyed the amazing cafè overlooking the slopes. Reasonably priced menu. All told an excellent start to our skiing this year.”
