Adaptive Snowsports
Accept No Limits!
There are a range of adaptive snowsports available, opening up skiing to anyone who has any kind of disability. Disability Snowsports UK is a people-centred charity with a unique sense of purpose; that anyone regardless of their disability can take part in and enjoy the thrill of snowsports. DSUK and The Snow Centre can offer the opportunity to join in a sport that everyone can do.
Fully qualified BASI adaptive instructors are able to adapt and accommodate for all disabilities. They will take the time to get to know you with one-on-one sessions and personalise a learning programme for you. With a full range of equipment available there really are no limits. Lessons are available in as individual or group lessons, please enquire for full details of availability.
Involvement in snowsports provides so many benefits. Physically, it works extra muscle groups and improves balance and physiotherapists love the all over work out. Emotionally there is a new found sense of freedom and independence that gives a huge confidence boost to individuals.
Through DSUK and The Snow Centre there are local groups developing to bring people with a love of snowsports together to meet, socialise and ski. A new local recreational adaptive skiing group meets once a month and is run by dedicated volunteers and will be based here at The Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead. Contact sophiewood@disabilitysnowsport.org.uk for full details.
Whether you have your heart set on being the next Paralympic champion or whether the idea of that extra freedom appeals, DSUK and The Snow Centre will be able to help you realise your snowsports dream.
