Kwame Nkrumah Achaempong
Kwame was born in Glasgow in 1974 when his father was studying for his masters degree. He then returned to Ghana for his younger years before returning to settle in the UK in 2000. The Snow Leopard, as he has been known, had the ultimate snowsports dream of competing in the Winter Olympics. A dream made even more incredible by the fact he only started skiing 5 years ago while here in the UK.
This dream became a reality when he competed in the slalom and finished in a respectable 47th place. He was the first skier from Ghana to compete at the Winter Olympics and only a handful of Africans to do so. While training in the UK Kwame kept up his contact with the snow by training at The Snow Centre.

Jake Terry
Jake was born 2nd July 1998 and at only 11 years old is a freestyle snowboarder. He is already sponsored by some of the biggest names in snowboarding, such as DC Snowboarding, Flow Snowboards, Electric Goggles and The Snow Centre.
He actually started as a skier when he was four and a half years old back in the days of the Wycombe dry slope. Here he started to attend freestyle nights alongside the boarders after he got some pointers from freestyle skiers. However, he found after messing around on a snowboard that he was a natural and in 2007 competed on both skis and snowboard. After an accident where he cut his shin and couldn’t ski the snowboard stayed and the skis were not to be seen again.
Jake competes and films all over the UK and Europe both with the DC team and as an individual. Click here to read Jake's blog and follow his progress.
