FAQ's
- If I can't ski or snowboard can I go out on the slope?
Safety of all our guest is always at the top of the agenda. For your own safety and for the safety of others slope users, guests must be able to meet our minimum standard. Recreational Lift Passes are for the main slope only so you must meet our minimum standard which is to be able to control speed and direction, perform controlled linked turns and use the button lift unassisted. Anyone who cannot meet these standards must book a lesson with one of our instructors. We do however, have a wide variety of lessons on offer to help you reach the required minimum standard.
- Can I just turn up for a lesson or a Recreational Lift Pass?
All lessons must be booked and paid for in advance. We also advise that you book Recreational Lift Passes in advance to avoid any disappointment. Sometimes there will be slope restrictions due to racing, freestyle or events so it is always advisable to check with us before you travel. You can book online, by phone or in person.
- Do I need to arrive early?
Yes, if you are having a lesson, please arrive 30 minutes before the lesson is due to start. This is to ensure you have enough time to check-in, collect any hired clothing and equipment, and time to change into your gear.
- How far will I progress in my lesson?
Everybody is different and it is therefore difficult to predict how individuals are going to progress. It will depend on ability, type of lesson and the other people in your group. It may take between 5 - 10 hours of lessons to reach a recreational standard.
- Can adults and juniors be in the same Group Lesson?
The age groups are split for several reasons. Younger children require more time and attention from their instructor and will also find it more physically demanding than older children. Instructors use different drills and language for teaching children of different ages. Junior lessons are split into the following age groups: 4 year olds (ski only), 5 - 6 year olds (ski only), 7 - 10 year olds, 11 - 16 year olds. By separating the age groups we can optimise the learning experience. However, should you wish to have a lesson with mixed age groups we do offer private lessons.
- Can you hold a booking for me?
I'm afraid we cannot hold bookings without payment. We are able to advise you what is available at present but this is subject to change especially during busy periods.
- What level am I?
We have a useful chart to help you decide what level you are. It is important to find the right level for a Group Lesson so you progress correctly through the level system.
- What size is the slope?
Our main slope is 160m in length and is serviced by two POMA button lifts, our trainer slope is 100m long and is serviced by two rope tows. The gradient of the main slope is roughly 15 degrees.
- Can I request a specific instructor?
Private lessons can be booked as a special request for a specific instructor dependant on availability. We are however unable to guarantee specific instructors for Group Lessons.
- Is equipment included?
The cost of all tickets include boots, skis or snowboard, poles and helmet. You are welcome to use your own equipment but the price remains the same. If you do not have your own warm and waterproof outwear then this can be hired at an additional cost of £6.50. You can also purchase gloves and socks should you need too. It is around -3?C on the snow so for your comfort warm and waterproof outwear is essential.
- What do I need to bring?
If you are not hiring any of our equipment and clothing as mentioned above. Please ensure you are dressed appropriately. When you make your booking, you will receive a booking confirmation email which will include a booking reference number. You will need your confirmation number to use our fast-track checking in machines - so you won't need to queue.
