FAQ's
- If I can't ski or snowboard can I go out on the slope?
Safety of all our guests is always at the top of the agenda, and for that reason we insist on a beginner taking lessons before taking to the slope. For your own safety and for the safety of other slope users, guests must be able to meet our minimum standard of being able to control speed and direction, perform controlled linked turns and use the button lift unassisted. Lift Passes are for the main slope only. Anyone who cannot meet these standards must book a lesson with one of our instructors.
- Can I just turn up for a lesson or a Lift Pass?
All lessons must be booked and paid for in advance. We also advise that you book Lift Passes in advance to avoid any disappointment. Sometimes there will be slope restrictions due to racing, freestyle or events so it is always advisable to check with us before you travel. You can book online, by phone or in person. If you are having a lesson, please arrive 30 minutes before it is due to start. This is to ensure you have enough time to check-in, collect any hired clothing and equipment, and time to change into your gear.
- Do I need to arrive early?
Yes, if you are having a lesson, please arrive 30 minutes before the lesson is due to start. This is to ensure you have enough time to check-in, collect any hired clothing and equipment, and time to change into your gear.
- How far will I progress in my lesson?
Everybody is different and it is therefore difficult to predict how individuals are going to progress. It will depend on ability, type of lesson and the other people in your group. It may take between 5 - 10 hours of lessons to reach a recreational standard.
- Can adults and juniors share a lesson?
If you are looking to learn a new snowsport with the family then we have the perfect package for you. Take a look at our Family Private Lesson package where up to 2 adults and 2 children can learn a snowsport together. All our group lessons are split into age groups of 4 years (ski only), 5 - 6 years (ski only), 7 - 10 years, 11 - 16 years and 17 years+. This is because younger children require more time and attention from their instructor and will also find it more physically demanding than older children. Instructors use different drills and language for teaching children of different ages. Please be aware that in a private lessons for adults and junior the instructor will work at the slowest learners pace.
- Can you hold a booking for me?
I'm afraid we cannot hold bookings without payment. We are able to advise you what is available at present but this is subject to change especially during busy periods.
- What level am I?
We have a useful chart to help you decide what level you are. It is important to find the right level for a Group Lesson so you progress correctly through the level system. To view the chart, click here
- What size is the slope?
Our main slope is 160m in length, 30m wide and is serviced by two POMA button lifts. Our trainer slope is 100m long and is serviced by two rope tows. The gradient of the main slope is roughly 15 degrees at the top and 10 degrees approaching the bottom. Both our slopes are indoors and made of real snow!
- Can I request a specific instructor?
Private lessons can be booked as a special request for a specific instructor dependant on availability. We are however unable to request specific instructors for Group Lessons.
- Is equipment included?
The cost of all tickets include boots, skis or snowboard, poles and helmet. You are welcome to use your own equipment but the price remains the same. If you do not have your own warm and waterproof outwear then this can be hired at an additional cost of £6.50. You can also purchase gloves and socks should you need too. It is around -3’C on the snow so for your comfort we do advise warm and waterproof outwear.
- What do I need to bring?
If you are not hiring any of our equipment and clothing as mentioned above. Please ensure you are dressed appropriately. When you make your booking, you will receive a booking confirmation email which will include a booking reference number. You will need your confirmation number to use our fast-track checking in machines - so you won't need to queue.
- I want to buy someone a Snowsports related gift, what can I get?
You can purchase gift vouchers to the values of £5, £10, £15 and £50. The vouchers can be used for full or part payment towards any snow product. Vouchers can be purchased online, over the phone or in person. You may either collect your vouchers from The Snow Centre or we can send them out to you via recorded deliver which can take between 3 - 5 working days (P&P charges apply).
